Justin McConchie

Mental Health Support

Justin McConchie is a Lived Experience AOD Peer Support Worker at HARP, where he supports clients throughout their recovery journeys within a residential rehabilitation environment. His role includes facilitating weekend morning check-in groups, providing one-to-one peer support, assisting clients to engage with the therapeutic program and curriculum, and supporting access to recovery meetings, appointments, and community activities.

Justin contributes to maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment and works collaboratively with the clinical team to promote engagement, accountability, and continuity of care, while also assisting with the day-to-day operations of the facility during weekend shifts.

Justin holds a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) and a current First Aid qualification and is committed to ongoing professional development within the AOD and community services sector. He brings over five years of lived recovery experience, including ongoing service, mentorship, and peer guidance within recovery communities, alongside several years supporting individuals experiencing substance use challenges and early recovery. His practice is grounded in trauma-informed and person-centred principles, with areas of focus including recovery motivation, peer engagement, strengths-based support, and modelling practical recovery strategies through lived experience. He is particularly passionate about supporting clients to build hope, connection, and confidence as they establish sustainable recovery pathways.
